Astrophytum ornatum is native to the canyons and limestone cliffs of Mexico. Star-shaped, it has dark green flesh and woolly scales. It’s one of the largest and easiest and fast-growing cacti to grow. In maturity it can reach a height of 120cm.
Water during the growing season but allow the compost to drain between waterings. Avoid watering altogether between September and March.
